What we collect

We collect information needed to run Bin Knight and match you with nearby neighbours. This includes your email address, home address and approximate location coordinates, your listings, and messages you send in the app.

We use this data to match neighbours who have spare bin space with neighbours who need it, and to enable coordination through the app.

Your home address is only revealed to another user after a match is accepted. Until then, other users see enough information to decide whether to request a match, but not your full address.

Messages are stored so we can provide the chat feature between matched neighbours.

If you want your account or personal data deleted, contact [email protected] and we will help you with your request.

Cookies & analytics

Our website (this marketing site, not the app) uses Google Analytics only if you accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner. Declining is fine and does not affect anything you can do on the site.

If you consent, we use Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) to measure page views and how the site is used, so we can improve it. Analytics cookies are not used for advertising, and we do not sell or share this data.

You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of any page. See Google's privacy policy for how Google handles this data.

The app itself (once you're signed in) is covered separately above and does not use Google Analytics.

Your privacy rights

Under GDPR and similar laws, you have rights over your personal data. In plain English, you can:

• Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct: update inaccurate details (for example your address in Profile).
• Delete: erase your account via "Delete my account" in Profile, or ask us to help.
• Object or restrict: ask us to stop or limit certain processing where the law allows.
• Portability: request your data in a common, machine-readable format.

What we hold and why: email (login and contact), address and approximate location (neighbour matching), listings (sharing bin space), messages (coordination after a match), and ratings (trust between neighbours).

Retention: we keep account and listing data while your account is active. After deletion, profile and listings are removed; some derived records (past matches or messages) may remain for a limited time per policy, and can be fully removed on request.
